JourneyMap ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of users who access our website and tools. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under applicable privacy law including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data We Collect

JourneyMap operates as a static web application. Our tools — including the Trip Budget Calculator and Packing List Planner — run entirely within your browser. No form input data is transmitted to our servers or stored remotely.

We may collect the following non-personal technical data through standard web server logs:

• IP address (anonymized after 24 hours)
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and time of visit
• Referring URL

This data is used solely for aggregate traffic analysis and security monitoring. It is not used to identify individual users.

2. Cookies

JourneyMap uses a single first-party cookie to remember your consent to our cookie banner. This cookie (key: "ck") stores a single value ("1") and does not contain any personal data. It is not shared with third parties.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. If you use browser extensions that block analytics scripts, there is nothing on JourneyMap for them to block beyond the Google Fonts request described below.

3. Third-Party Services

Google Fonts. Our website loads typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font file, Google's servers receive your IP address as part of a standard HTTP request. Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. To avoid this, you may use a browser extension that intercepts Google Fonts requests.

Unsplash. Blog post images are served from Unsplash's CDN. Your browser makes a direct request to Unsplash servers when loading these images. Unsplash's use of request data is governed by their own privacy policy.

We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioral tracking service.

4. Your Rights Under GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights regarding any personal data we hold:

• Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
• Right to erasure: You may request deletion of personal data we hold.
• Right to restriction: You may request that we limit processing of your data.
• Right to object: You may object to certain types of processing.
• Right to data portability: You may request a machine-readable copy of your data.

Given the limited data we collect and the browser-local nature of our tools, most of these rights have limited practical application. To exercise any right, use the contact form on our About page.

5. Data Retention

Server access logs containing anonymized IP addresses are retained for 90 days for security purposes, after which they are permanently deleted. Cookie consent records are stored locally in your browser's localStorage and are not transmitted to us.

6. Children's Privacy

JourneyMap is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through our contact form, use the contact form on the About page to request deletion.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected with a revised "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of JourneyMap after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
